PhD Colloquium

The chapter’s main activity each year is holding a Colloquium for PhD students to share student research amongst students, academics and practitioners in a friendly environment.

The Colloquium is usually organised by two graduate students, but can be run by more if more students are interested. The organisers are generally nominated during the student chapter meeting at the conference in the preceding year.

The general format for the Colloquium involves a keynote speaker from the field, several student oral presentations, several poster presentations, a workshop and a social activity to close out.

A general timeline for students preparing to present at the Colloquium is:

August: Organising committee confirmed. Contact via
Late January: A Call for Papers is distributed – check here on the website towards the end of January
Mid March: Submissions due at a similar time to the conference
Early May: Acceptances given at a similar time to the conference. Registrations open.
Early June: Schedule distributed and published on the Student Chapter website
The day before the conference: The Colloquium!
Shortly after the conference: The Colloquium proceedings are published on the student chapter website
